PSEUDO SCIENCE ?
(First thing we gotta clear up is how to pronounce the word.
You do not, and we repeat, DO NOT pronounce the letter "P."
If you pronounce it with the letter "P" it sounds like a type of Italian pasta or ham.
The word pseudo should sound like "Sue-doe.")
WHAT IS PSEUDO SCIENCE ?
Simply stated, Pseudology is the study of what some believe to be false or Pseudo Science.
Pork and Beans go where most scientists fear to tread in their search for the truth about the fallacies of pseudo science. “We realized that there were already a lot of real scientists studying real science. But none were studying false science or what has become known as Pseudo Science. Plate tectonics was once thought to be a pseudo science and has since become accepted as real science. We decided to take a good, hard look at Creation Science, Evolution and Intelligent Design to see what all the hoopla was all about.
It is not when truth is dirty, but when it is shallow, that the lover of knowledge is reluctant to step into its waters. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Pork and Beans aren’t afraid to get dirty.
As Einstein said “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
In searching for the truth we refuse to be limited by what we know.
So we ask, “Who better to study Pseudo Science than Pseudo Scientists?”
“It takes one to know one,” says Beans.
Pork and Beans have adopted Mark Twain’s simple observation as the first law of Pseudoscience.
It is stated as follows:
“Against the assault of humor nothing can stand.”
or
Pork and Beans have translated it into the following equation:
Assault of Humor=aH
Nothing=N
aH+N=HaHa
Humor might be considered our sixth sense. We already have SIGHT, SOUND, TASTE, TOUCH AND SMELL.
We use humor to help identify and clarify these senses:
Something LOOKS funny.
Something SOUNDS funny.
Something TASTES funny.
Something FEELS funny.
Something SMELLS funny.
It is obvious humor is a key ingredient in understanding our world.
But does humor belong on a Science Web Site?
“They laughed at Galileo, Newton, Darwin, Edison and Einstein,” says Pork,
“If they laugh at us then we must be doing something right.”
